2nd Man Charged In Attempted Robbery, Pistol-Whipping At New Lenox AT&T Store: NLPD
The Chicago man, 31, was arrested and charged Friday, Sept. 26. A first suspect was arrested just days after the Sept. 1 incident.

NEW LENOX, IL — New Lenox police have arrested a second suspect in connection with an attempted armed robbery at an AT&T store earlier this month.
At around 5:30 p.m. Sept. 1, an employee at the store at 701 E. Lincoln Highway told police they were taken into a back room and hit over the head with a handgun by two men wearing masks, gloves and construction clothing. The men demanded that the employee open the safe.
The safe had several security measures in place preventing it from being opened, police said. The suspects became frustrated and fled the store. Nothing was reported stolen, and the employee refused medical treatment for minor injuries, police said.

Detectives obtained additional information and evidence linking the second suspect—identified as Matthew D. Moore, 31—to the incident. He was taken into custody Sept. 25 and brought to the New Lenox Police Department.
Moore was also reportedly seen in video footage from the same dollar store, where white latex gloves used in the attempt were purchased a few hours prior to the incident, police said.
Moore was charged Friday with attempted armed robbery and aggravated unlawful restraint. He was taken to the Will County Jail to await a pre-trial detention hearing.
New Lenox police thanked Tinley Park police, the Cook County Sheriff's Office, Chicago Police Department and the FBI for their help in identifying and arresting the men.
