Give Me A 'W': New Lenox Cheer Teams Place High At State Tourney
Three teams on Elite Cheer in three different age divisions all came home with plenty to show for their efforts.
NEW LENOX, IL — Elite Cheer had a lot to cheer about, as its three cheerleading teams all took home top places at the Illinois Cheerleading Association’s State Championships Dec. 3-5 at NIU Convocation Center in DeKalb.
Elite Cheer had three teams total in three different age divisions, according to a news release from Elite Cheer. Each team was invited to compete in the state championship after scoring well at competitions early in the season.
The eighth grade team placed second in the state championships; cheerleaders on the fifth and sixth grade team placed second in the competition's sixth grade division; and the fourth grade team took fourth place, according to the release.

"We are thrilled with the season our athletes put together this year,” said Cheer Director Gina Nawrocki. "Elite is only in its second year as a competition team, so those rankings were a terrific showing of the hard work our athletes and coaches put in over the course of the season."
Elite Cheer operates under the umbrella of the New Lenox Youth Football Association, which offers football and cheerleading for children in first through eighth grade.
