Homer Glen Man, 29, Spat Blood And Saliva In Face Of Silver Cross Hospital Security: NLPD

The man was charged with aggravated battery in the Sept. 18 incident.

NEW LENOX, IL — A Homer Glen man faces aggravated battery charges after spitting blood and saliva in the face of a Silver Cross Hospital security guard, according to police reports.

Police were called Sept. 18 just after 7:30 to the hospital emergency, for a report of an aggravated battery. A security guard told police that a patient—identified as Logan Echols, 29, of Homer Glen—had come combatant with them. Echols reportedly grabbed the officer's radio microphone and hit them in the eye with it, causing a laceration. He then began spitting blood and saliva at the officer, according to reports.

Two Lockport police officers were nearby and attempted to assist in restraining Echols, according to reports. Echols kicked and spat on them, New Lenox police said.

Echols was restrained, treated and released from the hospital. Upon release, he was taken into custody and taken to the New Lenox Police Department. He was transferred to the Will County Jail.
