L-W West Sends 5 Wrestlers To State, 1 Takes Podium Spot
Lincoln-Way West had five qualifiers at IHSA individual state finals at State Farm Center in Champaign Feb. 20–22.

NEW LENOX, IL — Lincoln-Way West High School sent five wrestlers down to Champaign to compete at IHSA individual state finals Feb. 20–22, with one notching a 3rd place finish.
Representing L-W West in Class 3A were Brady Glynn at 113 pounds, Max Munn at 120, Jack Strezo at 144, Nate Elstner at 215, and Brandon Bavirsha at 285.
Elstner was the highlight of the weekend, said Coach Brian Glynn. Elstner lost his opening round match 2-7 and came back to win 5 matches in a row to finish 3rd. He also defeated the returning state finalist in the blood round and also avenged his opening round loss as well.

"Nate was the only wrestler in the entire tournament in any bracket to lose the first round and come back and win the next 5 matches," Glynn said. "A feat that is extremely difficult and extremely rare."
Elstner finished the season with a record of 45-6.

Glynn went 1-2 over the weekend, losing 6-7 in the opening round, winning his next match in overtime, and losing 2-4 in the wrestle backs. Brady finished the season with a 39-12 record.
Munn, Strezo, and Bavirsha all went 0-2 over the weekend.
