LW Central Cross Country Captain Places 9th In State

Lincoln-Way Central senior and Mokena resident Caden Simone became just the ninth Knight since 1968 to finish in the Top 10 in the state.

NEW LENOX, IL — Lincoln-Way Central High School senior Caden Simone made school history when he crossed the finish line Saturday at the IHSA Class 3A boys cross country meet in Peoria: He became just the 14th Knight since 1968 to receive All-State honors with his 9th place finish, and just the ninth Knight to earn a spot in the Top 10.

Simone, a Mokena resident, finished with a time of 14:37.99, which places him sixth for all-time best state times in Lincoln-Way Central history, according to his coach, John Taylor.

Simone ran the first mile in the 3-mile race in 4:43.1, the second mile in 5:03.5 and rounded it out with a 4:51.39 third mile, according to AdkinsTrak Timing Associates.

Simone has verbally committed to Bradley University, according to Taylor.
