New Lenox Man Loses $235K In Crypto Investment Fraud: Police
"Brittney" convinced the victim to invest in a website; he did, then was locked out. He got back in and found it emptied, police said.
NEW LENOX, IL — A New Lenox man lost $230,000 in a fraudulent cryptocurrency investment scheme, according to police reports.
Police were called Friday afternoon to the 1500 block of Stonebridge Drive for a deceptive practices complaint. The man told police that he had received a text message from someone named Brittney, convincing them to invest money in a website called ATFXmarketsinc.com.
The man told police that he transferred his accounts to a crypto wallet, then into an account on the website. He told police he had transferred a total of $235,000 to the investment account.

He later attempted to log into the account, but discovered he was locked out. When he finally got back in, he found the account balance was zero.
He told police he tried to contact Brittney, but did not receive any response, police said.
