New Lenox Mom Is 'Patient, Hard Working And Caring,' Husband Says

NEW LENOX, IL— Moms do so much for everyone around them. We try to celebrate them all year long, but Mother's Day is a perfect opportunity to shout it from the rooftops and post it on Patch: Mom rocks!

Here at Patch we've launched an initiative to help recognize the awesome moms and mom figures in communities like yours.

This submission comes from Christopher DeMato who nominated Michelle DeMato of New Lenox.

What makes your Mom extra special?

Michelle works a full-time job AND a part-time job on weekends, all while attending graduate school for her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Lewis University. To finish her degree in 2 years means that she also completed an internship of over a thousand unpaid hours in counseling and goes to school year-round. On top of this, she supports our teen daughter year-round throughout her high school hockey career. When not doing that, Michelle is helping take care of our perpetually under-renovation 1916 house and volunteering to take care of the “problem dogs” at the South Suburban Humane Society. Not to mention she gets up at 5 am to go to the gym. Aside from all of this, she makes us many delicious dinners and plans all of our vacations to make sure we don’t miss out on anything. She is an amazing mother, wife, counselor, and friend.

Why do you feel your Mom deserves the spotlight?

She is tireless, patient, hard-working, generous, and caring.
