New Lenox Nears Approval Of Briarwood Townhomes

Developer Brian Rigsby anticipates that construction of the eight buildings could start around May.

NEW LENOX, IL - The New Lenox Village Board will meet later this month to approve a local developer's plans to build several townhomes for the community. If all goes as planned, Brian Rigsby of Rigsby Properties could get started turning dirt for his Briarwood Place townhomes project in February. Construction of the three-story brick, stone and siding units could begin around May.

Design plans in front of New Lenox call for eight, three-story, 4,800-square-foot residential buildings containing six units each. In total, there will be 48 units. The project is expected to be on the village board agenda for approval at the January 22 meeting, assistant village administrator Robin Ellis indicated.

The townhome development would go on a 5-acre parcel near Route 30 behind the Reclaim Fitness business, according to Mayor Tim Baldermann. The New Lenox mayor told Patch that he believes the Briarwood Place Townhomes would be a great addition to his growing village, and he anticipates the project will receive final approval from the village board when it comes up for voter later this month.

"Townhouses are very popular in our community," the mayor said.

Baldermann said that townhomes are great options for parents who are empty nesters or for young professionals who are just starting out in their careers.
