Restaurant Week In New Lenox Offers Buffet Of Deals For Patrons

NEW LENOX, IL — What's better than good tasting, local food? How about good tasting local food that someone else cooks for you. Or, even better than that, good tasting local food that someone else cooks for you that includes a special promotion.

Restaurant Week in New Lenox is in full effect through Tuesday, and patrons of the 20 participating establishments can find special deals at their favorite spots, or venture out and try something new.

Chicago Dough Company, for example, is offering a buy-one, get-one deal on its pizza; buy any size pizza and get the same size cheese pizza free. Chicago Dough Company is located at 1080 E. Lincoln Highway.

“Every year we participate in [Restaurant Week] trying to help support people in these tough times by providing a nice deal where people order a pizza and get the same size cheese pizza for free," said Chicago Dough Company co-owner Marcin Przybysz. "It helps us and it helps others.”

Speaking of helping others, over at Arrowhead Ales they've come up with a different kind of promotion for Restaurant Week.

Mike Bacon, owner and head brewer at Arrowhead Ales, received the email invitation from the Village to participate in Restaurant Week. But, rather than go along with the suggested deals, Bacon decided to go rogue to help out a non-restaurant business.

“We’ve done [the deals] before and decided we’d try something different this year: Instead of just giving discounts to people to bring them in here, we’re hoping to bring people in so that it’ll raise some money for a good cause,” Bacon said. “This year, we decided to raise money for NAWS animal shelter in Mokena. It’s a no-kill animal shelter.”

Bacon came up with the idea of creating a new burger, the Old Brick Tavern Burger, and to donate a portion of the proceeds of those sales to NAWS. The Old Brick Tavern Burger is prepared with a patty made of chuck, brisket and short rib meats topped with cheddar cheese, hickory-smoked pulled pork, peppered bacon, and barbecue sauce infused with Arrowhead beer.

Arrowhead Ales is also featuring its own special brew, Survivor Tails, and a portion of the sales on four-packs will also go to NAWS.

A donation box is available at Arrowhead Ales, located at 2101 Calistoga Drive, for people who would like to donate pet supplies, as well.
