Ride In Style This New Year's Eve With A Free Limo Lift Home

The Safe Ride Home program will offer its ride service in New Lenox again this year. Find out how to take advantage of it.

NEW LENOX, IL -- In conjunction with several nearby communities, New Lenox is offering free limousine rides home in the wake of the upcoming New Year's Eve holiday.

The Safe Ride Home program will offer rides home — but not to other parties or watering holes — to Mokena, New Lenox, Palos Heights and Tinley Park residents. The service will be available after the clock strikes midnight on Jan. 1 through 4 a.m. that day.

How do party-goers take advantage of the program this year? They can call Via Limo at 708-349-7700 during the program's four-hour window New Year's Eve (well, technically New Year's Day) and specify that they'd like a "safe ride home."

A driver will then pick them up and take them to their residence, no questions asked and no names or money taken, as coordinators of the annual service like to tout.

Although each of the communities involved with the program helps pay for it, funding does come from other sources, including a grant from the Michael P. Gordon Foundation, which was established to honor the 30-year-old Chicago police officer killed by a drunken driver in 2004.
