Senior Living Facility Breaks Ground In New Lenox

New Lenox Horizon Senior Living Community will offer affordable one- and two-bedroom units to seniors.

NEW LENOX, IL -- New Lenox Horizon Senior Living Community, an affordable living senior facility, broke ground in New Lenox last week and could open to seniors who qualify under income standards as early as next summer. Construction has begun on the 53-unit facility taking shape on the southwest corner of Cedar Road and Otto Drive in New Lenox.

“We are grateful to the Village of New Lenox for being so patient and supportive,” says Beth Demes, executive director of The Alden Foundation, a not-for- profit organization that is the sponsor and developer of the project. “Without doing any advertising, we have received calls from 73 interested senior residents, which shows the great need for this type of housing in the area.”

The facility was described as "highly energy efficient" and "sustainably designed" in a news release. It will be open to seniors age 62 and older whose incomes are below 60 percent of the Chicago-area median income level. One-bedroom units will range from $336 to $747 a month while two-bedrooms will be in the range of $723 to $898.
