Tinley Park Man, 33, Spat Blood, Saliva At Silver Cross Hospital Security Guard: NLPD

The incident happened the evening of Sept. 20 at the New Lenox hospital.

NEW LENOX, IL — A Tinley Park man faces an aggravated battery charge after police said he spat in the face of a security guard at Silver Cross Hospital Saturday, according to police reports.

Police were called dispatched to Silver Cross Boulevard just before 6 p.m. Saturday for a battery complaint. The complainant was a Silver Cross security officer who advised they attempted to restrain a combative patient—identified as Jason Samuel, 33, of Tinley Park—and the patient spat blood and saliva into the guard's face, according to police reports.

There were no injuries as a result of the incident.

Samuel could not be taken into custody at the time because he required additional medical care, according to reports. The next day, Samuel was released from Silver Cross Hospital, taken into custody, and transported to the New Lenox Police Department.

He was processed and released.
