150 New Homes Served By Food Pantry Through Coronavirus Pandemic
Over 150 new homes have requested aid from the Northfield Township Food Pantry since the coronavirus pandemic took effect.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Since the coronavirus pandemic first caused statewide school and business closures, the Northfield Township Food Pantry has seen more than 150 new households in need of service, according to township supervisor Jill Brickman. This has led to an increased demand for food donations and volunteers.
Although demands will always change, Brickman said the pantry currently is in need of canned vegetables other than tomatoes, cereal, oatmeal, canned tuna and chicken, soups other than chicken noodle and rice mixes. Donations are to be left outside the pantry to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.
"I want to give a big thank you to the community for stepping up and making sure that they share a belief that hunger is unacceptable in our community," Brickman said.

Brickman said there is a limit to how many volunteers can enter the pantry at once. Volunteers practice social distancing and wear face masks and gloves.
