Burglary, Retail Theft, Stolen Catalytic Converts: Northbrook Blotter
Northbrook Police handled a number of criminal complaints and made two arrests involving local residents, who were charged with crimes.
NORTHBROOK, IL — The Northbrook Police Department handled a number of complaints over the past week involving a number of criminal offenses and made two arrests over the past week.
Local residents are reminded that criminal charges do not equate to a guilty finding. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
THEFT FROM A VEHICLE

Two local residents in the 2700 block of Shermer Drive called the police on Nov. 11 after reporting their catalytic converters had been taken from their work trucks while they were parked at a storage parking lot.
A local resident in the 2000 block of Valencia Drive said that the catalytic converter from her 2015 gray Hyundai was taken on Nov. 15.

RETAIL THEFT
An employee at a local business in the 100 block of Skokie Boulevard contacted police at 3:26 p.m. on Nov. 11 after they noticed that security wires had been taken that keep expensive jackets from being taken. A review of surveillance footage showed a male suspect stealing Canada Goose jackets, police said.
RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY
A local resident contacted police after they said several pieces of jewelry were stolen from their condo in the 2100 block of Foxglove Drive. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.
A local resident contacted police to report that several pieces of jewelry had been taken from their bedroom dresser in the 2200 block of Mayapple Lane. Police said there were no signs of forced entry.
A local resident in the 100 block of Bridlewood Road contacted police on Nov. 14 and reported they had heard breaking glass in the basement of his residence. When officers arrived, they saw three people running from the residence. Several items, including cash, were reported taken from the home. Police from multiple departments conducted a search for the suspects, but did not find them, police said.
A local resident in the 2100 block of Foxglove Rd. contacted the police on Nov. 17 and said that someone entered her condo and took jewelry while she was out of town. No signs of forced entry were found.
THEFT
A local resident complained that her wallet was stolen while she was shopping in Northbrook. She told police two women had walked very close to her just before she discovered her wallet missing and later found out that two women matching the same description had attempted to use her credit card to purchase items at another department store.
An employee at a local business in the 1300 block of Meadow Road said they had ordered a laptop computer that was to have been delivered to that address. When the package never came, the complainant contacted UPS and was told that someone had signed for the delivery.
DEATH INVESTIGATION
Police and fire officials arrived at an assisted living facility in the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard for a patient in cardiac arrest. After first responders attempted CPR, police said that the person died of natural causes.
ARRESTS
Cho H. Kyung, Northbrook, was arrested at 12:49 a.m. on Nov. 11 and charged with disorderly conduct. Police said Kyung was upset about how a neighbor’s landscapers had collected leaves, some of which had fallen on his property. Police said that Kyung pounded on the neighbor’s doors, which caused the residents of the home to become scared. He is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 28.
Jennifer M. Garrett, Sarasota, Fla., was arrested on Nov. 17 and charged with theft, retail theft and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon after the manager of a store in the 1900 block of Willow Road reported that an employee, identified as Garrett, stole cigarettes, a vape pen, and cash. Police said when Garrett was arrested, they found a loaded handgun and brass knuckles in her purse. Garrett is scheduled to appear in court on Dec. 15.
