NORTHBROOK, IL — LifeCafe, a casual restaurant within Life Time Northbrook, 1100 Skokie Blvd., is offering curbside pickup and deliveries within a five-mile radius. Life Time's Northbrook location is the only one of the 10 gymnasiums in the greater Chicago area that is offering carryout options, according to Life Time public relations manager Amy Williams. Prior to the shutdown, Williams said LifeCafe never offered delivery or curbside options for patrons.

“We know how important it is to stay healthy—now, more than ever—and bringing our options out of our Life Time clubs is something we’re excited to do,” Ben Nelsen, resident of LifeCafe, said in a statement. "The meals you love from LifeCafe are the perfect carryout or delivery option, and to keep you safe, we’ve implemented options like ‘Leave at My Door’ delivery and contactless tipping.”

LifeCafe will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily and available to anyone whether a Life Time member or not. All LifeCafe menu items are free of highly processed and artificial ingredients, including preservatives, sweeteners, flavors, colors, trans fats, bleached flours and added hormones and antibiotics.

When Life Time locations first were closed due to the coronavirus, Williams said the company made the decision not to charge dues and pay team members through March 29. Full health insurance premiums for employees also are being covered during this chaotic time.

Without insight into how long business closures would last, Williams said staff discussed how to bring furloughed employees back to work.

"Making sure people have access to healthy foods is important and where this came about," Williams said. "The ability to get some of our team back to work was another added positive."
