Coronavirus: Northbrook Trustees Spreading Positive Messages
Messages of hope and commendation for coronavirus first responders have been put up throughout Northbrook thanks to village trustees.

NORTHBROOK, IL — Messages of hope and commendation for coronavirus first responders have been popping up all around Northbrook thanks to a community initiative led by village trustees. Recently, a sign saying "NPD ROCKS, THANK YOU" was put up in front of the Northbrook Police Department and additional signs at village hall, Northbrook fire stations and other trustees' homes are on display or planned.
Trustee Muriel Collison said she wanted to come up with some initiatives to bring some happiness through the coronavirus pandemic. One such idea was using police and fire vehicles to organize small parades for children's birthdays. Within the first week of this initiative, Collison said 70 families had signed up. Trustee Kathryn Ciesla recommended that donations collected as part of the parades be sent to the Northfield Township Food Pantry, according to Collison.
"We're just trying to promote some cheer and some hope" Collison said. "Our motto is 'Northbrook Strong' and I'm just trying to do whatever I can to promote that message."
