The village of Northbrook gave out over 8,000 face masks to residents during a distribution event on Thursday.

NORTHBROOK, IL — More than 8,000 face masks to aid in the fight against the coronavirus were handed out to Northbrook residents during a free distribution event on Thursday. Once an attendee was verified as a Northbrook resident, they were give up to four masks. Another 200 masks were provided to Crestwood Place Senior Apartments, according to an e-newsletter from the village.
Last week, the village required the use of face coverings in public. The village recommended the use of reusable and machine washable masks, like the ones being distributed Thursday, for residents as opposed to N95 or medical-grade masks.
A second distribution event will take place next week. Details will be released soon, according to the newsletter.
