Huge Underground Vault Planned to Ease Northbrook Flooding

Trustees approved the design phase of the project, which would cost a total of $8.9 million.

Northbrook trustees approved the first phase of a giant, underground vault that would contain storm water in an attempt to reduce flooding in the village, according to an article in the Northbrook Star.

The vault would hold 7.5 million gallons of water, the article says, and cost $8.9 million. Trustees last week approved a $786,000 contract for an engineering firm to design and manage the tank’s construction.
