IL Secretary Of State Visits Northbrook Middle School
Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias spoke to 340 students in grades sixth through eighth during the special assembly.

NORTHBROOK, IL — A visit to Field Middle School by Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias ended with a "lively" Q&A session from the 340 students gathered at the special assembly. Students in grades sixth through eighth learned from Giannoulias about his role in state government, his personal journey, and the importance of leadership at all stages of life.
According to West Northfield School District 31, Giannoulias spoke about the responsibilities of the Secretary of State's Office and emphasized the values of gratitude, civic engagement, and giving back to one's community. Students asked thoughtful and wide-ranging questions, demonstrating their curiosity and enthusiasm for public service.
The visit was especially meaningful for Giannoulias, who has strong family ties to Field Middle School. His cousins — Chris (Class of '86), Steve (Class of '91), and Kosta (Class of '94) — are all proud alumni. His nieces, Gia (sixth grade) and Ambri (eighth grade), currently attend Field and had the honor of introducing their uncle at the event. Students presented Giannoulias with a Field-themed gift basket as a token of appreciation.
