A Look at This Week's Police Reports in Northbrook

An SUV hit by a freight train, a burglary, stolen iPhones, iPad and a $30,000 simulator are included in this week's police reports.

Friday Jan. 8— Officers stopped Michal Kurcharski, 28, from Arlington Heights, after he was pulled over for a traffic violation and police discovered his driver’s license and plates were suspended. Kurcharski was arrested, processed and released after posting $3,000 bond.

Monday Jan. 11 —A construction crew member from the 700 block of Skokie Highway reported equipment was stolen from their job site, including a golf simulator, valued at $30,000, which consisted of a Sony 3700 Lumen projector and an HD computer hard drive and receiver. The equipment had been installed earlier in the day and was discovered missing around 1 p.m., the report states. An Apple iPad was also stolen from another location on the job site.

A woman on the 2300 block of Salceda reported a burglary between the time she left her residence at 1 p.m. and returned at 2:30 p.m. The victim said she discovered her bedroom closet doors standing open, along with drawers in the bedroom and hallway. The victim reported missing jewelry from one of the bedrooms and that various doors were left open that had been locked. It appeared the offender shattered a rear patio door to gain entry into the residence.

Tues. Jan. 12—A caller from the 2700 block of Techny Road reported an offender entered his unlocked locker and stole $280 from his wallet.

Wed. Jan 13— A caller from Dundee Road and Fair Lane reported his 2015 Jeep stalled or ran out of gas at the railroad crossing. The vehicle was then struck by a passing freight train. The driver was not injured and the Metra Police responded to handle the report.

A caller from the 1800 block of Lake Cooke Road reported battery took place in the parking lot of Northbrook Court. Security reported they approached a man after they observed him bent down near a vehicle to check if he was having car trouble. The man charged forward, pushing the guard in the chest, causing him to fall backwards. Responding officers checked the lot but did not locate the subject.

A caller from the 3000 block of Mac Arthur Blvd. that an individual placed 23 orders with the company using a PayPal account and then canceled the payment once notified the orders had been shipped. The company reported a $28,096 loss of merchandise.

A caller from the 700 block of Skokie Road reported an offender entered his unlocked 2004 Nissan and stole his iPhone 6.

Thurs. Jan. 14— A caller from the 1500 block of Lake Cook Road reported someone stole her gold iPhone 5S, valued at around $300, from her purse. The caller said she was shopping at a business at Northbrook Court, placed her purse down while the clerk assisted her and discovered the missing phone when she returned home after shopping. The phone was located in Chicago using a phone app.
