NORTHBROOK, IL — As a result of a new partnership between several local entities, a new fishing derby is coming to Lake Shermerville. Fall Fishing Fest is planned for 10 a.m. to noon, Sunday, Oct. 12. According to organizers, families can fish, play games and more at Wood Oaks Green Park, 1150 Sanders Road.

The creation of the free fishing derby credited to a partnership between the Northbrook Park District, Wheeling Park District and State Sen. Julie Morrison (D-29th District), in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.

"This fishing derby will be a fun way to enjoy the outdoors and learn the joys of fishing together," Morrison said. "Grab your poles and come fish with us."
