Northbrook District 28 Receives Music Education Award For 10th Year

NORTHBROOK, IL — For the past decade, the music program at Northbrook District 28 has been recognized as a "Best Communities For Music Education" recipient by the National Association of Music Merchants. This year, District 28 was just one of 29 school districts recognized in the state, and one of 850 honored across the country.

"This is an impressive accomplishment," Superintendent Dr. Jason Pearson said. "We have an amazing team of music educators and a very supportive community. Ultimately, our students benefit from a superb experience with music in our schools."

According to district officials, the designation is given each year to school districts following a comprehensive application process that details the level of curricular, extracurricular, and community-wide support for music education. The award recognizes the District 28 community for its outstanding support and commitment to music education, providing music access and education to all, the NAMM Foundation states.

"I am grateful to be a part of a team of music educators who continually strive to provide the best music education for our kids," said Greg Scapillato, District 28 band director, who submitted the application. "I am also deeply grateful for the leadership and support from the administration and Board of Education. I am continually humbled by the dedication and support of our parents, as well as the amazing achievements of our students."
