Northbrook Wants Fitness Center, Day Care Proposal Re-evaluated
Under consideration for 1000 Skokie Blvd. is a Life Time Fitness, Children's Learning Adventure day care and an apartment building.
The Northbrook Village Board voted 6 to 1 on Jan. 12 to send a large development proposal for 1000 Skokie Boulevard back to the planning and zoning committee for more discussion, though that session has not been scheduled, reported the Northbrook Star.
The development has been under criticism from village officials and residents concerned for its size, tax revenue potential and odd mixed use.
Plans call for a 93,000 square-foot fitness center, 43,000 square-foot childcare facility and 338 multi-family apartment building and parking garage covering 438,000 square-feet, according to village documents.
