Police Find Taser in Car Driven by Teen Without License

$10K in equipment was also stolen from a construction site.

The following information is from the Northbrook Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Taser in car driven by teen without a license

A vehicle with three people inside was stopped for a traffic violation at 12:15 a.m. Sept. 25 at Dundee and Landwehr roads. Officers determined that the driver, Tania Mayao-Gregorio, 18, of the 200 block of 7th Street in Wheeling, did not have a valid driver’s license or insurance, and she was placed into custody. She was released on $2,000 bond and given an Oct. 24 court date.

In speaking to the other occupants, officers discovered open alcohol in the vehicle and a search of the vehicle revealed a taser hidden under an article of clothing.

Jairo Rosales, 23, of the 150 block of Norman Lane in Wheeling, was placed in custody for unlawful use of a weapon and a parole violation, and transported to bond Court. The other passenger, a 20-year-old from Wheeling, was given a local ordinance citation for having alcohol underage.

Retail theft

Store security at a business in the 100 block of Skokie Highway, related that they saw two women in the children’s section at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 25. One placed numerous clothing items into a tan bag. They then left the store without paying for the merchandise. Store security followed the women out of the store into the parking lot where they confronted them. The woman carrying the bag dropped it and threatened to spray mace. Both women fled the parking in a black vehicle.

Burglary at construction site

A building contractor reported that two air conditioner condenser units and two furnaces worth $10,000 were stolen from a house under construction in the 2900 block of Keystone Road between Sept. 22-23. There appeared to be damage to the front and rear doors showing the locks had been pried open to gain entry into the building.

Identity theft

A resident discovered that her personal information was used to apply for several lines of credit.
