Theft, Cases Of Battery On Skokie: Northbrook Police Blotter

Two of the incidents occurred on the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard, according to Northbrook Police.

NORTHBROOK, IL — The following information comes from the Northbrook Police Department and court records as a record of incidents reported to the police and those arrested on criminal charges, which represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court.

Everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless found guilty in court beyond a reasonable doubt.

CITATIONS

SUSPENDED DRIVER'S LICENSE

Cesar Balbuena was pulled over at 10:24 p.m. July 21 at the intersection of Dundee Road and Fair Lane after an officer noticed a defective taillight on his red Acura MDX. During the traffic stop, the officer found Balbuena had a suspended license. He was issued a citation for driving while his license was suspended. Balbuena was given a court date for Aug. 10.

Ryan M. Vazquez of Arlington Heights was pulled over at 10:27 p.m. July 25 at the intersection of Wilow and Shermer Road after an officer observed a silver Jeep driving with an expired registration plate. During the traffic stop, the officer found Vazquez’s driver’s license to be suspended. He was issued citations for expired registration and driving while having his license suspended. Vazquez was given a court date for Sept. 7.

ARRESTS

AGGRAVATED BATTERY

Edward Gordon is accused of two counts of aggravated battery to a police officer, as well as battery, resisting arrest, and obstructing a peace officer. Gordon was arrested at 7:20 p.m. July 22, on the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard. Officers were dispatched to the area after they received a call about Gordon starting a fight with another person, according to police. When officers arrived, Gordon is accused of hitting one officer in the head and spitting on them. A court date of Aug. 3 was assigned.

BATTERY

The management of a retail store called police at 3:01 p.m. on July 24 to report a female individual has attempted to steal a large number of alcoholic beverages from the store on the 700 block of Skokie Boulevard. The store management accused the female individual of hitting them with one of the items when confronted, walking out of the store, then coming back and threatening to hit them again. According to police, the store management told them the female fled in a black Ford vehicle before officers arrived.

RETAIL THEFT

The management of a retail store called police at 3:33 p.m. July 24 when they saw two male individuals stealing merchandise from the store on the 200 block of Skokie Boulevard. The store management told officers the thieves drove a silver Honda van. According to police, an officer saw the vehicle and attempted to stop the two males, but they did not stop and sped away.

DEATH INVESTIGATION

A person called the police at 7:19 p.m. on July 27 after they found a family member unconscious inside their home on the 1200 block of Walters Avenue. When Officers arrived they found the family member deceased. Death was determined to be of natural cause.

RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY

A person called police at 4:44 p.m. July 28 after she arrived home and noticed someone had burglarized her home on the 800 block of Bittersweet Road. Her home surveillance system recorded two male individuals entering the house through a rear sliding glass door. The males stole various pieces of jewelry. They are described as:

  • No. 1 – male, tall, thin frame, wearing black sunglasses, light gray sweatshirt, blue jeans, black shoes, and gloves.
  • No. 2 – male, tall, thin frame, wearing a gray jacket, light blue jeans, black shoes, and gloves.
