Volunteers Credited By Glenview/Northbrook Youth Service Group

In honor of Volunteer Appreciation Week, Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook thanked holiday volunteers for their service.

NORTHBROOK, IL — In recognition of Volunteer Appreciation Week, Youth Services of Glenview/Northbrook sent a special thank you via Facebook to over 500 members of corporate groups, church groups, scouts, friends and families who make the organization's holiday gift program a reality.

Thanks to the efforts of these volunteers, more than 800 children and families experience a brighter holiday season.

"Once unwrapped gifts are donated, hundreds of volunteers come together to wrap them in December," the Facebook post read. "We are always blown away by the outpouring of support for this program, which volunteers make possible."

National Volunteer Week was established via presidential proclamation in 1974 to highlight the various options for individuals to volunteer in their communities.

Northbrook Patch continues to write human-interest profiles on Northbrook-area businesses during the ongoing health crisis. Northbrook Patch has a simple online survey for local small businesses to fill out to let everyone know they are open and their current hours of operation. About a dozen Northbrook businesses have been added to Patch's list so far.
