17-Year-Old Dead After Car Crashes, Catches Fire On Route 83
The early Tuesday morning crash is under investigation by the Major Crash Reconstruction Team, police said.
OAK BROOK, IL — A 17-year-old driver was killed early Tuesday morning after authorities said their car hit an overpass pole and caught fire.
Oak Brook police and fire officials were called to the scene of a car engulfed in flames on southbound Illinois Route 83 near 31st Street at around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday. Police said the car appeared to be a black or grey Honda Accord with damage to the front.
Preliminary investigation indicates the Accord was traveling south on Route 83 when it veered off the right side of the road and crashed into the overpass at 31st Street. The car continued to roll back onto Route 83.

Police have not released the identity of the teenage driver. Officials said the crash is under investigation.
