Gun Goes Off Accidentally Near Shops At Oak Brook: Police

People were asked to avoid the area while officers investigated.

OAKBROOK TERRACE, IL — A firearm was accidentally discharged Monday in Oakbrook Terrace, according to Oak Brook police.

Officers were on the scene shortly after 1 p.m. in the area of 22nd Street between the Shops at Oak Brook and JRC Plaza, police tweeted. People were asked to avoid the area while officers investigated, according to police.

In an update at 2:30 p.m., police tweeted that all lanes of 22nd Street had reopened.
