1 Injured, Residents Displaced In Overnight Apartment Fire: Oak Forest Fire Department

One person suffered minor first-degree burns in the fire at 158th and Terrace Drive.

OAK FOREST, IL — One person suffered first-degree burns, and residents were displaced after an apartment fire in the overnight hours in Oak Forest, fire officials said.

At around 12:30 a.m. Thursday, the Oak Forest Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire at 15802 Terrace Drive. Crews found heavy fire from a third-floor unit that eventually spread to the roof.

Firefighters aggressively battled the blaze from the inside of the building while conducting a search of the third floor, fire officials said The fire required a box alarm dispatch of surrounding fire departments to bring it under control.

A resident was treated at the scene for minor first-degree burns, fire officials said.

The building is uninhabitable. Residents did not require assistance from the American Red Cross.
