Berkery Sparks Spartan Softball Comeback Win At The Rumble In Rosemont
She hits, she pitches, she roams the outfield catching fly balls in the gap and at the fence, and plays all infield positions well.

OAK LAWN, IL — Versatile senior Kaitlyn Berkery played a major role in Oak Lawn Community High School’s come-from-behind win last month in the Rumble in Rosement girls softball tournament.
Trailing Niles West High School, 8-2. in the bottom of the seventh inning with two outs and nobody on base, that’s when the Spartans exploded for seven runs and escaped with the improbable 9-8 victory.
Berkery came on to pitch in relief and contained the Niles West bats. Then, she hit a big triple and scored a run in the middle of the seventh-inning rally.

“Kaitlyn is doing it all for the Spartans,” OLCHS head coach Shawn Neubauer said. “She will pitch in tight situations. She will roam the outfield, catching fly balls in the gap and at the fence. If needed, she will play most infield positions and play them well.
“Kaitlyn’s hitting is just as impressive as her defense. She will turn singles into doubles and doubles into triples,” Neubauer continued. “She is a force on the base paths, stealing bases with ease. Kaitlyn was a huge part in the team’s come-from-behind win over Niles West.”
