Oak Lawn Police And Fire Gear Up For National Night Out
Oak Lawn police and fire invite residents to come out for National Night Out, Tuesday, Aug. 5, featuring demos, tours, food and more.

OAK LAWN, IL — Turn on your porch light and bring your family to National Night Out in Oak Lawn, starting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5. This year, the take-a-bite-out-of-crime event will be held in a new location on the Village Green, 9446 S. Raymond Ave.
Since the first National Night Out in 1984, more than 38 million neighbors in 16,000 communities throughout the nation will hold some type of event promoting community building and public safety.
This year’s event in Oak Lawn features exciting new changes and reimagined activities, offering a fresh take on a beloved community tradition. Family-friendly activities include:

- Police and fire department vehicle tours and demonstrations
- Live DJ performing on the gazebo stage
- Bounce houses
- Face painting
- Balloon twisters
“National Night Out is one of our favorite nights of the year. It’s a chance for our officers to connect with the community in a relaxed, positive setting,” said Chief Dan Vittorio, of the Oak Lawn Police Department. “These events help build trust, strengthen relationships, and remind us all that public safety is a shared responsibility. We’re proud to stand alongside our residents and celebrate the partnerships that make our neighborhoods safer and stronger.”
This event is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to engage with first responders, learn about police and fire operations, and enjoy a fun, safe atmosphere that reflects the spirit of unity and partnership within Oak Lawn.

A variety of community businesses will be on-site, along with Boy Scout Troop #596, offering snacks, and refreshments.
