OAK LAWN, IL — With Halloween just more than a month away, Oak Lawn Public Library department members are planning a pair of events geared at providing a history lesson while also capturing the spirit of the season.

The library’s Local History department will host the events, both of which are free and designed to help get local residents into the Halloween spirit. The first is being done in collaboration with Oak Lawn’s Chapel Hill Gardens Funeral Home and will offer residents of all ages the chance to tour the Chapel Hill South cemetery which is the resting place of Chicago White Sox legend Billy Pierce.

The lantern-lit stroll through the cemetery will take place from 6-7:30 p.m. on Oct. 28. The event is free but interested residents must pre-register. The library will be providing individual faux candles. The tour will be led by Michael Kozlowski and will include trivia as well as visits to the gravesites of notable Chicagoans.
