Oak Lawn Police Charge Man with Heroin Possession at Shell Station

Kankakee man found asleep behind the wheel of his parked car admits to using heroin earlier in the day, police say.

Oak Lawn police charged a man with drug possession after finding several packets of suspected heroin and an uncapped syringe in his car.

Police received a report of an apparently intoxicated male trying to pump gas at a Shell station on Aug 12. Arriving at the Shell station at 10601 S. Cicero Ave., at 6:27 p.m., police were pointed in the direction of a red Jeep Cherokee that was parked on the north side of the station. Officers saw Michael N. Rosen, 22, of the 800 block of South Osborn Avenue in Kankakee, asleep behind the wheel.

According to the report, police had to knock on the driver's side window to wake Rosen up. While speaking with Rosen, who showed signs of being intoxicated, the officers noticed the bottom of an aluminum pop can with burn residue, an open foil packet and a cotton filter on the floorboard at Rosen's feet, the report said.
