Oak Lawn Police Issue 378 Traffic Citations During Fourth Of July Enforcement Campaign
Oak Lawn police issued a total of 378 traffic citations during the Fourth of July enforcement period from June 20 to July 5.
OAK LAWN, IL — Oak Lawn police made one impaired driving arrest and issued a record-high 331 seat belt citations during the recent Fourth of July “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI,” and “Click It or Ticket” safety campaigns.
The enforcement period ran from June 20 to July 7, Oak Lawn police netted the following infractions:
- 296 front seat safety belt violations
- 35 rear seat safety belt violations
- 23 child safety seat violations
- 42 other citations involving -distracted driving, speeding, and vehicle equipment violations
- 3 traffic arrests for suspended or revoked driver’s license
- 1 charge for fleeing and eluding
- 1 felony charge for aggravated DUI for alcohol
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this statewide effort to get drunk, high and drugged drivers off our roads and encourage seat belt use.

The Oak Lawn Police Department joined forces with more than 200 other state and local law enforcement agencies conducting the safety effort, which featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities, including a media campaign.
The “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns are made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
