Oak Lawn Seat Belt Citations Drop 31 Percent From Memorial Day 2024

OAK LAWN, IL — Seat belt violations decreased 31 percent from the same period last year during the Oak Lawn Police Department’s Memorial Day “Click It or Ticket” campaign.

From May 16 to May 27, Oak Lawn police issued a total of 257 traffic citations, 227 of which were for seat belt violations. In addition, tickets were written for:

  • 03 child car seat citations
  • 01 DUI arrests
  • 02 suspended/revoked license
  • 01 uninsured motorist citations
  • 23 other citations including: vehicle equipment violations & expired registration

In 2024, Oak Lawn officers issued 328 seat belt citations, a decrease of 31 percent, or 101 seat belt violations during the recently passed Memorial Day enforcement period.
