HOMETOWN, IL — An unoccupied truck was struck by a Metra train Friday morning at the 87th Street and Pulaski Road rail crossing.

Metra officials told Patch that a Southwest Service 808 train struck the truck around 8 a.m. Hometown police sent out an alert a few minutes later stating that the rail crossing was closed due to a crash. About 45 minutes later, the rail crossing reopened.

No injuries were reported. A SkyCam 9 on WGN picture showed a truck with a flatbed partially on the tracks by the train. It is unknown if the driver of the truck jumped out of the vehicle.
