130 Seat Belt, 70 Speeding Citations In Labor Day Push: Orland PD

The ramped up traffic enforcement campaign was funded by federal highway safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Park police issued more than 130 seat belt citations and nearly 70 speeding tickets in a ramped up traffic enforcement over the Labor Day stretch, the department announced Thursday.

Police successfully conducted occupant protection and impaired driving enforcement efforts over Labor Day weekend, resulting in 6 arrests. Police also issued 138 seat belt citations and 68 speeding citations. There were an additional 20 citations for other various offenses.

“Through the Labor Day safety campaign, we helped to make our roads safer and spread the word about the risks of impaired driving—‘It’s Not a Game,’” said Orland Park Police Chief Eric Rossi.

The Village of Orland Park collaborated with other law enforcement agencies and highway safety partners across the state for the Illinois Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” and “Drive High Get a DUI” campaign.

This effort was part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “Drive High Get a DUI” and “Click It or Ticket” initiatives, funded by federal highway safety funds through the Illinois Department of Transportation.
