3 Criminal Arrests, 200 Citations Issued In Orland PD Distracted Driving Push
Orland Park police in April increased patrols for distracted drivers.
ORLAND PARK, IL — Orland Park police on Friday released the results of last month's amped up patrols for distracted driving.
Police announced they had issued 213 total citations, 131 citations for handsfree law violations, made 3 traffic arrests and 3 criminal arrests from the traffic stops conducted in April.
"We strongly enforce traffic laws for one reason—to save lives," said Orland Park Police Chief, Eric Rossi. "This increased enforcement was implemented to help motorists avoid the often-deadly consequences of distracted driving with a simple reminder: Put the Phone Away or Pay."

The Orland Park Police Department joined forces with the Illinois State Police, local law enforcement and highway safety partners for this enforcement effort.
The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
