Addressing The Village’s Response To User Content

In recent months, on several occasions the village has attributed reader-submitted posts to Patch, falsely characterizing them as misinformation published by Patch.

To be clear, in addition to publishing local news that is fully reported and fact checked by our journalists, Patch provides a platform for community members to express their own views.

Posts submitted by community members contain their own opinions, and not that of Patch. We welcome and encourage community members to post directly to the site.

In the interest of allowing Patch to be a true community platform, we adhere to our terms of use:

Patch is under no obligation to screen or monitor any content, but we may review content from time to time at our sole discretion to determine compliance with these Terms of Use. Patch will make all determinations as to what content is appropriate at our sole discretion. We may include, edit or remove any content at any time, for any reason, and without notice.

Local officials as well a local governments are also welcome to post on Patch, and are free to respond to user-submitted content.
