Alleged High Driver Had 3 Kids in Her SUV When It Crashed: Blotter

Rasa Kales, 43, of the 13900 block of Stonehenge Drive, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane use, according to an Orland Park police report.

Police spotted a coupe traveling 59 mph in a 40 mph zone at about 1:34 a.m. in the 8600 block of 143rd Street, the report states. The car also crossed the road lines without signaling. Police stopped the car when it tried to make a left-hand turn.

The driver, Kales, stumbled when he got out of the car, according to the report. He was arrested after performing tests for intoxication.

Kales is due on Sept. 3 in Bridgeview court.

Children In Crash, DUI Charge


Jennifer L. Albright, 29, of the 10100 block of West 151st Street, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of drugs, possession of marijuana, improper passing, driving with a suspended license and endangering the life of a child, according to a report.

Police investigated a rollover crash involving a single vehicle at about 3:16 p.m. in the 13500 block of Medina Drive, the report states. Officers found a severely banged-up red Ford Explorer with three children inside when it crashed, police said. The driver, Albright, and her children needed hospitalization and were taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn.

During an investigation, police noticed a smell of marijuana coming from inside the SUV, the report states. The airbags did not deploy and there was no smoke or fire coming from the vehicle.

Albright was arrested based on the nature of the crash and the alleged marijuana smell, according to a report. She was due on July 12 in bond court.
