Angelo Caputo’s Market Is Coming To Orland, Taking Berkot’s Spot
The new Angelo Caputo's Fresh Market location will occupy the current Berkot's Super Foods and is expected to open in spring 2021.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Market plans to open its newest location in Orland Park in spring of 2021. The decision comes as the inducement agreement was unanimously approved at the Nov. 2 regular board meeting.
The new Angelo Caputo’s location will take over the current Berkot’s Super Foods, 11333 W. 159th St. The agreement provides the business with 50 percent of the sales tax generated at their store for 10 years, and also includes the Orland Park Commercial Impact Program that allows for a 25 percent reduction on permit and related fees, according to the village. The project brings a new full-service grocer to the location, with a $7 million investment, according to the village.
Owned and operated by the Angelo Caputo Family since 1958, Angelo Caputo's Fresh Market provides a diverse assortment of international, traditional, healthy and organic foods, the village said. Their first store opened in 1958 in Elmwood Park, at the corner of Harlem and Wrightwood. The family now operates seven grocery stores throughout the Chicagoland area.

"We are very pleased to be in Orland Park," Caputo’s CEO Robertino Presta said. "I’ve worked at the store since I was 13-years-old. My father-in-law, Angelo Caputo, is 88 years old and is still out and about at the stores ... For all of these years…customers keep asking if we can come out to Orland Park."
The village said staff visited the family at their Carol Stream location last week.

"I’ve never had a meeting with Village officials on a Thursday and then been on the agenda on a Monday," Presta said. "They’ve really gone above and beyond, and we are excited about bringing Caputo’s to Orland Park."

Orland Park Mayor Keith Pekau said the new location will fit in well within the village.
"We are thrilled to have this history-rich, family-owned business call Orland Park home to their newest location," Pekau said. "They will be right at home in the community as they join the already abundant family-owned businesses here within the Village."
Pekau and the village board thanked village staff for their cooperation and quick action that has brought about the agreement with the Caputo’s establishment.
"This is a great addition to the Village of Orland Park," Pekau said. "We are proud to have the Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Market family choose Orland Park over the plethora of other available locations ... It speaks volumes about our community and our reputation that is strengthened with business success stories, even during a pandemic."
Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Market carries the private label La Bella Romana, which translates to "The Beautiful Romana." The label honors the late Romana Caputo, matriarch of the family, who the Caputos describe as being a pillar of strength and their guiding force, according to the village.
The village said the family prides itself on its made-from-scratch kitchen and bakery items that are made fresh every morning.
"Everything is made from scratch, no added preservatives, all natural and of the highest quality," Rosella Romana Presta, a third-generation Caputo family member said. "Many of our bakery items were inspired by my grandmother, Romana Caputo. We strive to be the freshest and friendliest stores and we take pride in what we serve our customers."
