“First, may God have mercy on the girl and grant her a place in His spacious gardens, and grant her family patience and solace,” the Center posted on social media. “This is one of the most difficult situations any family can experience, and mere speculation about the cause of death is a torment in itself, in addition to the loss. We ask God to grant them steadfastness, patience, and certainty. Amen.
“Second, there's no need to spread false and inaccurate information on social media. We await the circumstances of the incident and the results of the investigation.
“Third, this is a message to every girl or even young man: Yes, it's true, in general, our areas are safe, but we cannot neglect caution and security measures!
"Do not go anywhere without the knowledge of your family. Always keep the GPS feature on your phone activated with a family member. Never, ever go places alone, whether girls or boys, always be with a friend or more.”
Hammad had last been seen by her mother at her home in unincorporated Palos Township around 11 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Cook County Sheriff's Office. Police believe Hammad may have been in the vicinity of Spears Woods — near West 87th Street and South LaGrange Road — later on Friday.
