Car Hits Deer, Then Hit By 4 Other Cars On I-80: State Police

The chain reaction crash was triggered around 5:30 a.m.

ORLAND PARK, IL — Traffic on I-80 eastbound is at a standstill Thursday morning, after a chain-reaction crash in the early hours.

Illinois State Police said that troopers were called at 5:39 a.m. to milepost 144 near Wolf road, for a report of a multi-vehicle crash. A car had struck a deer in the roadway, then was reportedly struck by four other vehicles, state police said.

The driver of the car that struck the deer was taken with injuries to a nearby hospital.

All eastbound lanes remained shut down as of around 8:30 a.m.
