Caregiver Takes $4K From Elderly Orland Park Couple: Police
Police said Shantae White, 35, had been caring for the couple for several months, forging checks and using their debit cards online.

ORLAND PARK, IL — A caregiver of an elderly Orland Park couple has been charged with forgery after forging several checks and making online purchases with the couple's bank account and debit card, according to Orland Park police.
Authorities received a complaint about the forgery in July. Police said they identified the couple's caregiver, Shantae White, 35, of Calumet City, as the person responsible. According to police, White had been employed by the couple for several months.
Police said White forged several checks from the couple's bank account over her time caring for them. Since the initial discovery of the forgery in July, detectives also found that White had made multiple online purchases using the couple's debit card, police said.

According to police, the total amount of the checks and purchases amounted to more than $4,000.
On Tuesday, White turned herself in to the Orland Park Police Department, where she was charged. On Wednesday, White taken to the Bridgeview Courthouse and issued a $25,000 bond.
