Carl Sandburg's Boys Basketball Head Coach Todd Allen Resigns

ORLAND PARK, IL — Carl Sandburg High School Boys Basketball Head Coach Todd Allen has resigned his position following the 2020-21 season, according to a press release from District 230.

"After much thought and consideration, I’ve decided to step down from coaching boys basketball," Allen said. “I’ve spent 25 years, 16 as head coach, coaching and mentoring amazing young men in our program. Seeing them grow and maintaining lifelong friendships with them has been special."

Allen went on to say, "Basketball is a year round coaching position. I have a young family that I would like to be able to spend more time with. I’d like to thank all the coaches, teachers, and administrators for their support over the years. As a former Sandburg player and graduate, I’m forever grateful to have had the opportunity to coach a sport I love for 25 years. Thank you and Go Eagles!"

According to the release, during his time as a basketball coach, Allen displayed unwavering commitment to his players and the Sandburg community.

"Todd Allen was a mainstay for our basketball program for over two decades," said Athletic Director Steve Schanz. "He led our team with pride, discipline, a strong work ethic, and a passion for the sport."

"Coach Allen has influenced hundreds of players during his basketball coaching tenure,” Incoming Sandburg Principal Derrick Smith said. “I was fortunate enough to play for Coach Allen, and he taught me about the value of commitment, preparation, and teamwork. I continue to use lessons I learned from him today."
