Centennial Pool In Orland Park Reopening Next Week

The pool will reopen for lap swimming and swim lessons only on Monday, June 15.

ORLAND PARK, IL — The Centennial Park Aquatic Center will reopen for certain activities on Monday, June 15. The village of Orland Park announced the planned reopening on Wednesday.

The pool will only be open at first for lap swimming and swim lessons. Restrictions in place, at first, will include group sizes limited to 10 people and 30 feet of social distancing between groups, according to the village.

The reopening of the pool is in line with Phase 3 of Illinois' reopening plan, the village said, citing the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention:

"There is no evidence that the virus that causes COVID-19 can be spread to people through the water in pools, hot tubs or water playgrounds. Additionally, proper operation of these aquatic venues and disinfection of the water (with chlorine or bromine) should inactivate the virus."
