Chicago Man Charged With Attempted Kidnapping In Orland Park

ORLAND PARK, IL — A Chicago man is in custody Wednesday after trying to kidnap a woman walking along 143rd Street in Orland Park, police said.

Sofiane Mansouri, of the 1200 block of 31st Street in Chicago, is being held on $500,000 bond after authorities said he tried to pull the woman into his white truck with him on June 30.

According to Orland Park police, the woman was walking east on the 11400 block of 143rd Street when Mansouri pulled up next to her and asked her if she was all right. She said she was fine and did not need any help.

Mansouri then drove past her and parked the truck on the side of the roadway. He got out, told the woman he would help her, and despite her insistence that she didn't need help, grabbed her and carried her back to the truck.

She was able to stop Mansouri from opening the door, and broke free.

Mansouri was arrested July 2. He is charged with attempted kidnapping, a Class 3 felony. His next court date is July 30.
