7 Southland Football Teams Make IHSA State Semifinals
Seven teams from across Chicago's Southland have advanced to the IHSA state semifinals.

CHICAGO SOUTHLAND - 2018 has turned into a banner year for prep football in the Chicago Southland region. As the state field is down to four teams in all eight Illinois High School Association class divisions, seven teams from the region remain alive and in contention for a state championship.
And the state semifinal round itself offers the juciest of match-ups. The "Game of the Week" locally is without a doubt the "Battle of Pulaski," with Marist hosting Brother Rice in a rivalry game pitting the undefeated Crusaders against the RedHawks, whose only loss this year came to Brother Rice.
Also, Richards takes on Crete-Monee in another match-up of Southland teams. Other semifinal games involving local teams include Mount Carmel vs. St. Charles North, Hillcrest vs. Joliet Catholic and Lincoln-Way East vs. Loyola in a rematch of the 2017 IHSA Class 8A championship game.
