Does anyone in your family work in politics or government? This includes any relatives who work in the government you're running for.
No.
Occupation. Please include years of experience.
I have a degree in accounting (CPA) and over 30 years of experience in the accounting and business sector. Since 2017, I have served as the Payroll Coordinator for Community High School District 218.
Previous or current elected or appointed office:
I have proudly served as Orland Township Clerk for 16 years, since 2009.
The most pressing issues facing our township are _______, and this is what I intend to do about them.
One of the biggest challenges facing our township is ensuring that residents have easy and transparent access to essential services. As Township Clerk, I will work to improve communication, streamline operations, and make sure that residents know about and can benefit from these services. Additionally, financial responsibility is key, and I will continue advocating for efficient use of taxpayer dollars to maintain and improve township services without unnecessary spending.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
My experience, both professionally and personally, sets me apart. I have extensive experience in financial management and payroll, which ensures that I can effectively oversee township records and operations with transparency and accountability. Additionally, my deep community ties and understanding of residents' needs allow me to serve with a hands-on, people-first approach. I am dedicated to keeping our township government accessible and responsive to the people it serves.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)?
As the Clerk and official record keeper of the Township, I have documented that the current Supervisor has failed to uphold transparency and accountability. The monthly financial meetings have been canceled for over four years, preventing necessary discussions on township finances. Agenda items—including major financial decisions, such as approving an $800,000 line of credit—are routinely passed without meaningful questions or discussion. When questions do arise, they are typically minor. This lack of oversight is a disservice to taxpayers and undermines the integrity of township governance.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
In addition to improving township services, my campaign focuses on government accountability, fiscal responsibility, and strengthening community engagement. I believe in increasing transparency within local government operations so that residents know how their tax dollars are being used. I also want to ensure that township programs continue to be accessible and beneficial to all residents, especially seniors, veterans, and working families.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
Throughout my career, I have managed complex financial systems, payroll operations, and government records. As Orland Township Clerk, I have maintained accurate and transparent records while ensuring that township services run efficiently. My experience as Payroll Coordinator for District 218 further demonstrates my ability to manage critical administrative functions with accuracy and accountability. My professional track record proves that I am well-equipped to continue serving in this role.
Why should voters trust you?
I have a proven record of service, integrity, and dedication to the community. I take my responsibilities as Orland Township Clerk seriously, ensuring that records are properly maintained and that township operations are transparent and efficient. My background in accounting and payroll management has given me the skills to oversee financial matters responsibly, and my long-standing commitment to Orland Township demonstrates my dedication to its residents.
If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office as a success?
Success in my next term would mean restoring financial oversight, improving communication within the township board, and ensuring greater transparency in hiring and township operations. I will push for the reinstatement of financial meetings and establish clearer communication between all board members—not just the Supervisor. Hiring decisions should require board approval, rather than being made unilaterally. The township website must also be properly maintained and updated year-round, not just during election season.
Additionally, all township-sponsored events should be inclusive and open to all residents, not limited to private, invite-only groups. The Supervisor has repeatedly failed to communicate with other elected officials about these events, including exclusive senior gatherings that should be accessible to all seniors in our community.
Furthermore, all township departments— including the Highway Department and Assessor’s Office—should work together rather than being divided by the Supervisor. Instead of duplicating services at taxpayers’ expense, the Supervisor should support the Assessor’s Office during peak times rather than outsourcing essential services to third-party vendors. By eliminating wasteful spending and restoring collaboration between departments, we can ensure that Orland Township operates in the best interests of its residents.
Fiscal responsibility is one of my top priorities. Taxpayer dollars must be managed with transparency and efficiency to ensure that township services are maintained without unnecessary expenditures. My background in accounting and financial analysis has given me the expertise to oversee budgets effectively, and I will continue to advocate for responsible spending that benefits the community.
What are your thoughts on the crime rate in your community, and what more can be done to combat crime — especially violent crime — in town?
I support collaboration between local law enforcement and community organizations to ensure that crime prevention programs are effective. Community engagement and outreach efforts can help strengthen trust for residents. We must also ensure that our law enforcement officers have the resources they need to do their jobs.
What is your view of the city's/village's approach to commercial and residential development?
A balanced approach to development is necessary to ensure that our township grows while maintaining the character and needs of our community. Thoughtful planning is needed to attract businesses that support the local economy while ensuring that residential development aligns with infrastructure and community resources.
When it comes to development, what are some key areas for improvement or additions you feel are most wanted by residents? What will need to be done to make this happen?
Residents have expressed interest in maintaining and improving public services, green spaces, and infrastructure while also ensuring that new businesses are a good fit for the community. To make this happen, we need to foster open communication between residents, local government, and developers to create a plan that benefits everyone.
Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office, other than those of health or family?
None.
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
My experience in financial management, government operations, and community service makes me uniquely qualified to continue serving as Township Clerk. I will always prioritize transparency, efficiency, and the needs of our residents. I appreciate the support of the community and look forward to continuing to serve Orland Township with integrity and dedication.
