The most pressing issues facing our township are _______, and this is what I intend to do about them.
We need to ensure our programs are accessible and responsive to the needs of all residents, especially seniors and families. Careful management of taxpayer dollars is crucial to maintaining essential services without unnecessary tax increases. As Township Supervisor, I will apply my extensive experience in township operations to ensure transparent and community-driven governance.
What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?
My experience as Orland Township Assessor for nearly two decades has given me deep knowledge of township operations and budgeting. Additionally, my 35 years as an educator and time on the District 230 school board demonstrate my commitment to public service and improving our community. I have a proven track record of leadership, fiscal responsibility, and community engagement—qualities that set me apart from other candidates.
If you are a challenger, in what way has the current board or officeholder failed the community (or district or constituency)?
Under the leadership of Supervisor Paul O’Grady, the current board has made poor financial management decisions, leading to unnecessary bank loans and overspending. These decisions have placed a financial burden on Orland Township, risking essential services and programs that residents depend on.
Describe the other issues that define your campaign platform.
Ensuring open government practices and clear communication with residents.
Expanding programs and services for seniors, working families, and those in need.
Partnering with local businesses and organizations to create more job and training opportunities.
What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?
I have successfully served as Orland Township Assessor for 20 years, overseeing fair and accurate property assessments, being re-elected each term. I helped guide major school renovations while on the District 230 School Board, and I have managed budgets and programs effectively in both education and local government roles.
Why should voters trust you?
I have spent my career serving the Orland Township community with integrity and dedication. My leadership experience and knowledge of operations ensures that I will always prioritize the best interests of residents. I believe in transparency, fiscal responsibility, and community-driven decision-making.
If you win this position, what accomplishment would make your term in office as a success?
A successful term would mean ensuring financial stability while maintaining and expanding essential township programs. Orland Township employees and departments already provide valuable services, but they need strong leadership and fiscal responsibility from their Supervisor and Trustees. My team and I will work to support and improve these programs while implementing responsible budgeting practices to secure their long-term success.
What are your views on fiscal policy, government spending and the handling of taxpayer dollars in the office you are seeking?
I strongly believe in responsible fiscal management. Taxpayer dollars should be used efficiently to maximize services while minimizing waste. As Township Assessor, I have always prioritized fair financial practices, and I will continue to ensure transparency and accountability in all spending decisions as Supervisor.
What are your thoughts on the crime rate in your community, and what more can be done to combat crime — especially violent crime — in town?
Public safety is a priority, and while law enforcement is not under the direct jurisdiction of the Township, we can play a role in supporting safety initiatives. I support partnerships with local police, neighborhood watch programs, and community outreach efforts that promote safety awareness and crime prevention.
What is your view of the city's/village's approach to commercial and residential development?
Orland Township should work closely with municipalities to ensure responsible growth that benefits residents. Smart development should balance economic expansion with maintaining the character and livability of our community.
When it comes to development, what are some key areas for improvement or additions you feel are most wanted by residents? What will need to be done to make this happen?
Residents value strong local businesses, well-maintained infrastructure, and recreational spaces. We need to support smart commercial development, invest in road and public service improvements, and expand resources for families and seniors. Collaboration with local leaders and securing funding opportunities will be essential to making this happen.
Is there any reason you would not serve your full term of office, other than those of health or family?
None
What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?
I have dedicated my career to serving Orland Township—first as a teacher, then as a school board member, and now as Township Assessor. My experience, leadership, and commitment to the community make me the right choice for Supervisor. I look forward to working with residents to strengthen our township and enhance the services that make Orland a great place to live.
